Glenn Taylor was born July 28, 1934, to Verland and Joella Taylor. Shortly after his birth in Blackfoot, Idaho, his family, returned to Jackson Hole. During his childhood the family moved around so his father could find work. They spent summers at Grassy Lake near Yellowstone and at the Black Rock and Goosewing Ranger Stations. Winters were spent at various ranches around the Jackson valley feeding cattle. Even as a youngster, Glenn spent a substantial amount of time in the saddle. By collecting Coke bottles, he saved up $165 to buy his first cow when he was thirteen. After his marriage to Marian DiStefano they leased property at the Red Rock Ranch to put up hay for the cattle then later bought 160 acres on the shore of Lower Slide Lake. Glenn has raised both Hereford and Angus cattle with a smattering of Texas Longhorn calves. Beginning in 1988, Glenn began selling steer calves to the 4-H kids from Jackson. Over the years, he has won many awards for these calves including the Teton County Grand Champion in 1991 and multiple Teton County Breeder awards.
