Francy Sedgwick Martin

Francy has spent most of her life on a ranch. She owns a small ranch near Casper. She competed in high school rodeo, winning barrels, poles, and All-Around Cowgirl honors at Wyoming’s State High School Rodeo Finals. She competed in three National High School Finals Rodeos and served as student secretary of the National High School Rodeo Association. She also won many awards in 4-H. After high school and college, she married Mick James and they spent time in Germany for his military service, before returning to ranching near Newcastle. Active in the Northwest Ranch Cowboy’s Association, she served as NRCA Secretary/Treasurer, plus Editor/Publisher of their magazine The Piggin String for two years. When the Wyoming Rodeo Association was formed, Francy became a charter member. She later started training and racing horses – kicking off a successful 34-year career. Francy’s family has always been her top priority. She raised two boys and a girl. Fate has brought her a lot of maternal pain and heartache, with both her sons dying in the prime of life.
