Fred & Clara Wilson

Fred Wilson was born in Gillette in 1938. He was active in all sports in high school, basketball, football, and track. He attended Colorado State University on a track scholarship. After one year at CSU, he went to Casper College where he had been offered a rodeo scholarship by Dale Stiles. He joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1959 and is a Gold card member. After a year at Casper, he transferred to the University of Wyoming and was on the rodeo team there. In 1960, he was married to Clara Sedgwick, also a student at the University of Wyoming. She was born in Lusk in 1938 to Leonard “Bus” and Helen Petty Sedgwick. Both qualified for the national college finals three times. They were very involved with producing an annual AQHA show in Newcastle for several years, as well as high school rodeos there. They were charter members of the Wyoming Reined Cowhorse Association.
They live now on the ranch where she was raised. They bought the ranch from her parents in 1965. The ranch was named as a Wyoming Centennial Ranch in 2008.
